We believe disease begins in the gut. Let us help you heal from the inside out.

Meet Dr Rob King

After working as a men’s healths physician in Sydney, he decided to launch an international virtual clinic - to help people around the world take control of their gut health. With 15 years of experience within the Australian healthcare industry, he wants to guide people through the first steps of their wellness journey - their gut health.

His primary objective is to deliver the most up-to-date, innovative and effective treatment approaches and disease-prevention strategies to both men and women. His work is driven by both the latest medical research and 15-years of experience in the field of Men’s health.

Areas of Expertise

Dr Rob King started taking an interest in the gut microbiome in 2006. His experience in microbiology after training for one year in infectious diseases in Switzerland was invaluable in helping him understand gut microbiology. He has been working with patients in the area of the gut microbiome for the past 14 years. His knowledge in this field has been obtained through close collaboration with a microbiologist and by attending numerous conferences and seminars and clinical experience working with patients. Dr Rob King has also completed a postgraduate degree in Micronutrition, Diet, Prevention and Health at the University of Paris.

The pivotal role in our health of nutrition and gut health

Our Food

The reason we eat every day is to provide our cells with all the nutrients they need to function as they are genetically designed to. This is an essential prerequisite for our cells to perform their many vital roles. This in turn enables optimal functioning of all our organs, and therefore optimal physical and mental health.

Our Gut plays two crucial roles in maintaining health

The home to trillions of bacteria

Our gut houses trillions of bacteria known as the gut microbiota. Like our human cells, these bacteria perform vital functions, including digesting nutrients such as fibre, contributing to our energy levels, strengthening our immune system and influencing our mood.

Digestion and nutrient absorption

It actively breaks down the food we ingest, enabling the absorption of essential nutrients.

In the general media, the terms ‘gut microbiome’ and ‘gut microbiota’ are often used interchangeably, though they have distinct meanings. The gut microbiota refers to the communities of microorganisms (mainly bacteria) living in our gut. The gut microbiome includes not only these microorganisms but also their genes, encompassing the entire ecosystem within our gut and the functions these microorganisms perform.

Understanding the process involved.

In summary, this is slow medicine, and you must be patient. Although the structured process of preparing and submitting the required documentation prior to your first appointment will save a lot of time, supporting the gut microbiome to achieve better health is not a fast process.

It is important to understand that this process involves supporting trillions of very different colonies of live bacteria in the gut, and that this process is therefore very different to working with other parts of the human body. In most cases, four initial virtual consultations are required.

What is a virtual consultation?

A virtual consultation is a remote video conversation between a patient and a healthcare professional. It is a convenient way to consult your healthcare professional and get quality medical advice and treatment without making a trip to the consulting rooms.

Virtual visits give you a convenient and safe way to get care without leaving your home. You connect with a provider from your smartphone, tablet or computer using a secure video link.
